Description
Bookings and Launch: Honda is accepting bookings for the second-gen Amaze, which will be launched on May 16, 2018. We expect Honda to launch the second-gen Amaze from Rs 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The prices at launch will be introductory and for first 20,000 buyers only. Do check the Honda Amaze 2018 review in pictures.
Engine and Transmission: The 2018 Amaze will be powered by the same set of engines as its predecessor. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine makes 90PS of maximum power and 110Nm of peak torque while the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine develops 100PS/200Nm. While the petrol engine returns the same output irrespective of the transmission, the diesel engine paired with the CVT produces 80PS of maximum power, 20PS lower than what it does with the manual transmission. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT. The CVT is also available with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel but only with the petrol engine.
Features: Honda has not yet revealed the complete list of features but has confirmed that the 2018 Amaze will get paddle shifters (petrol only) with CVT transmission, 7-inch Digipad 2.0 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED positioning lamp, fog lamps, rear parking camera with sensors, push-button start and cruise control.
Safety: Like its rivals, the 2018 Amaze will get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and BA and ISOFIX anchors as standard across the range.
Competition: When launched, the second-gen Amaze will renew its rivalry against the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Volkswagen Ameo and the upcoming Ford Aspire.
